CamTally is an AI counter that automatically counts the number of objects in a picture simply by using your smartphone's camera. Neither the video nor the results are transmitted outside the device.
■ How it can be used in these situations:
[Shops & Events] Automatically counts foot traffic and entry numbers in front of a store by tracking lines drawn on the screen (IN/OUT). Peaks are immediately clear with time-based graphs. Useful for shift scheduling and promotional decisions.
[Traffic Surveys] Counts cars, trucks, buses, bicycles, and pedestrians by type. Useful for on-site measurements in shopping districts and neighborhood associations, and for preliminary research when deciding on opening a store.
[Observation & Independent Research] Automatically records the number of visits, duration, and appearance timeline of wild birds and cats in your garden. Summer vacation research projects can be compiled with graphs.
[Exercise Recording] Automatically counts the number of squats and arm raises using pose analysis. Activity level score is also calculated.
[At the workplace] Survey of actual usage of meeting rooms and common spaces, records of entry and exit of delivery vehicles, etc.
■ Main functions
- Recording → AI analysis: The AI analyzes the recorded video and calculates a "unique count" that does not count the same object twice using a tracking algorithm.
- Live display of AI frame: Displays colored frames and labels of the type on the captured subject in real time. Turn ON/OFF with one tap.
- 80 types of detection targets: People, cars, bicycles, motorcycles, buses, trucks, trains, dogs, cats, birds, etc. Simply select from the categories.
- Line crossing count: Counts IN/OUT by the direction the line was crossed. For measuring store entry/exit and up/down movement
- Range specification (ROI): Count only within a portion of the screen (e.g., only the roadway, only the entrance)
- Real-time measurement: Live counting in real time without recording
- Extensive statistics: Composition ratio donut, time-of-day graphs, cumulative trends, dwell time distribution, appearance timeline, detection location heatmap
- Export: CSV (Excel/Google Sheets compatible, no character encoding issues) and JSON. Supports automatic saving to a specified folder (effectively cloud saving if you select a sync folder)
- Automation integration: Notifies other apps when analysis is complete (can be integrated with automation apps such as Tasker)
■ Privacy-first design
- Video and analysis results are never sent outside the device.
- This app does not have internet access (designed to be unable to communicate).
- No facial recognition or personal identification is performed. Simply count the number of objects.
* No account registration required. No ads.
* Only camera permissions are used (excluding notifications during analysis).
■ How it works:
On-device AI (MediaPipe) detects objects within the device, and a proprietary tracking algorithm identifies and counts "the same person/same device." Even a one-hour recording can be analyzed within minutes on the device.
■ Tips for effective use:
* Shoot with a field of view that captures the subject for at least two seconds (it struggles with objects that cross at close range for a split second).
* Selecting only the types you want to count reduces false positives.
* Accuracy improves in brighter environments.
■ Limitations:
* Errors may occur in crowded scenes due to overlapping objects.
* Detection accuracy depends on shooting conditions (brightness, distance, angle).
* This app provides reference values for measurement and is not intended for security, safety, or medical purposes.
