About this app

CantoDuck is a playful Cantonese-learning app for children aged 3–5 who are growing up outside Hong Kong — and for the parents who want Cantonese to stay in the family. It is built around a Hong Kong street your child may never have walked down: taxis, dim sum, the tram. The words are everyday Hong Kong Cantonese, written in Traditional Chinese with Jyutping.

• Tap a picture card to hear the word — from taxis and trams to dim sum, over playful Hong Kong-inspired backdrops.
• Three-line learning — Chinese, Jyutping, and English on every card.
• A dedicated Hong Kong Cantonese voice on every word — not your device's generic speech engine. Bundled in the app, the same on every phone, and it plays offline.
• Record your own voice — a parent can replace any word's audio, so your child hears mum or dad rather than a stranger. (Recordings stay on the device and are never sent to our servers.)
• Echo mode — your child says the word out loud and gets warm, non-punitive encouragement.
• Family Tree — many relatives, so your child knows who is 姑媽 and who is 姨媽 before the next video call home.
