About this game

Eleven card tables and a checkers board, all in one app, and a seat is always open.

Cardhouse deals you a real hand against opponents that actually play — bidding, counting, and holding a trump back for the trick that matters. No sign-up, no account, no waiting for a lobby to fill.

OPPONENTS THAT PLAY FAIR AND STILL BEAT YOU

Difficulty in Cardhouse changes how the opponents think, not what they are dealt. Nobody peeks at your hand and nobody deals themselves a better one — when a CPU misplays, it is a plausible mistake, never a rule bent in either direction.

• Easy forgets what has already been played and slips now and then, the way a distracted player does.
• Normal is a competent table.
• Hard counts every card that has been played, and does not slip.

Checkers has five levels of its own. Novice barely looks past its own turn; Grandmaster searches eight moves ahead on a full position evaluation and does not blunder.

THE TABLES

• Spades — bid it, take it, or get set. You and a CPU partner against two, with nil bids and bag penalties.
• Hearts — duck every point, or take them all and shoot the moon.
• Euchre — bowers, trump, and the partner who goes alone.
• Whist — six is the book; everything after it counts.
• Cutthroat — three-way trick-taking with no partners and no mercy.
• Gin Rummy — knock early, or hold out for gin.
• Poker — Texas Hold'em against up to three CPUs.
• Blackjack — hit, stand, double, and read the dealer's upcard.
• GOPS — outbid, outguess, outscore, one card at a time.
• Crazy Eights — match it, shed it, or draw.
• Checkers — twelve a side, three rulesets, five levels of opponent.

KEEP SCORE FOR THE REAL TABLE

Playing in person? Cardhouse tracks the scorepad for a dozen games, including Casino, Continental and Rummy — team names, custom decks, hand-by-hand history, all saved.

CHIPS THAT MEAN SOMETHING

Every table takes a bet before the deal. Win and you're paid even money; lose and you feel it. Chips buy felts, checkers boards, chip sets and portraits — and nothing else, because they cannot be bought with real money and cannot be cashed out. There are no in-app purchases in Cardhouse at all.

BUILT TO BE PLEASANT

• A daily bonus that grows with your streak
• Hand hints and a rules sheet for every game, if you want them
• CPU table talk you can switch off in one tap
• Match history you can search, filter and replay from
• Portrait phone layout, built for one hand

Your name, your portrait, your chips and your history stay on your phone. Cardhouse never asks for an email address, and there is no account to lose.

Pull up a chair.
Spades, Hearts, Euchre, Poker, Checkers. Eleven tables, always one seat open.
