Handwriting tips:
Trace and write can be performed with a finger or stylus made for Android. A digital arts glove is not required, but it makes for more natural handwriting by allowing the student to contact the screen with the palm while writing. There are several handwriting fonts to choose from. Try a few and pick a font you enjoy.
Speech recognition tips:
Speech recognition can be used with a phone or tablet held at a comfortable distance when there is little or no background noise. Changes in the background noise can result in false negatives, that is, being told you misspelled a word when in fact you got it right. False negatives can be frustrating and every effort is made to avoid them. To control background noise during speech recognition, use noise canceling headphones that have a microphone.
To improve speech recognition accuracy you can also speak with a commanding and clear voice, find the best spelling tempo, and avoid additional mouth sounds. Emphasize the last letter of the word and try not to inhale after spelling a word. If you hold a microphone, avoid scratching it or changing the position of the microphone from your face until the recognition is complete. You might find yourself wanting to spell at a slightly faster rate than Spelling Assist. If so, turn off Spelling Assist when you find your own optimal spelling tempo.
We hope you enjoy learning to spell with Spelling Champion.
