About this game

A 3D chess board that fits in one hand.

The board stays three-dimensional — spin it with your finger and look at the position from any angle. If 3D isn't how you read a board, one tap switches to a clean top-down 2D view. Rules and controls are identical either way, so you can switch whenever it suits the position.

■ Three CPU levels
The engine was written from scratch for this app. It searches real lines instead of shuffling pieces at random.

・EASY — looks a couple of moves ahead and will let a few things slide. Good if you have just learned the rules.
・NORMAL — plays straightforwardly good moves. A steady sparring partner.
・HARD — reads several moves deep before committing. It will not overlook your slips.

The CPU thinks on its own thread, so nothing stutters while it works. Search depth adapts to how fast your device is, which keeps the wait roughly the same on any phone.

■ Pass-and-play for two
Hand the phone back and forth for local two-player games. The camera flips with the turn so your own pieces are always closest to you (you can turn this off in settings).

■ Nothing left out of the rules
Castling, en passant, pawn promotion (you pick the piece — not always a queen), checkmate, stalemate and the fifty-move rule are all implemented as standard chess defines them.

■ Small things that make it easier to play
・Legal destinations are shown on the board. Turn the hints off in settings once you no longer want them.
・Captured pieces line up along the top, with the material difference shown as a number.
・Undo takes back one move, three times per game. It asks for confirmation first, so a mis-tap costs you nothing.
・A notes panel slides out during the game. Jot down your strategy and it is stamped with the move number.

■ No account, no connection needed
There is no sign-up and no login. Games live entirely on your device and play fine offline. The only thing that uses the network is advertising.

■ About ads
The app is free, so it shows ads — when you use Undo, and between repeated games. Ads never cover the board during play.

Whether you are a beginner who learned the rules last week or just want one game on the train, this is a free 3D board game with the rules of chess intact and only the awkward parts smoothed over.
Full-rules 3D chess. Play offline vs 3 CPU levels or pass-and-play 2 player.
