**ok, so there was an old update & my app stopped working so I downloaded it and now its all wonky. Now on dark mode there is a flickering line that runs the whole length of the phone on the left side and restarting app only solves it for a few minutes. Orig review from 2023 5 stars: Love it! I love that is offline and no ads, i plan on donating.

Very good concept, but lacks some basic things. I love with the tap being able to see the church father's commentary, but there's no reference to the letter or sermon or book it is from. Also there's no word search for the Bible as far as I can see. That would be very helpful. Other than that it's very good start. Edit: my mistake. I now see there is references, but when same the father continues it has no reference. So it should be understood as coming from the same text.

Catena is an easy to use, one-click per verse reference to short quotes by several Church Fathers regarding many Scripture verses in both the Old and New Testaments. It is a simple, intuitive and handy little guide that can help round out one's understanding of a particular verse or passage, or it can point one in the direction of a more extensive study of an area of Scripture. It is very pleasant to both look at and use, and is a well-written app on many different levels. I highly recommend it.
