CattleScale estimates the live weight of an animal from photographs. It is a photo estimate, not a scale.
Photograph a beast from up to four angles (one side-on photo is enough to start). Optionally, name something of known size in the frame to help the estimate. CattleScale returns an estimated live weight with a range. Unlock the result to see the measurements behind it, an assessment of type and condition and, in Australia, an indicative value.
Each result shows an estimated weight and range; the range is wider when the photos give less to go on. You see the range, and any photo problems found, before you choose to unlock.
Pricing
Your first weigh is free. After that, each weight is unlocked one animal at a time. Weighing packs of 50, 100, 200, 250 or 500 lower the price per animal, and a detailed weight report is available as a separate purchase. There is no subscription. All purchases are made through Google Play, which shows the price in your local currency before you buy.
In Australia, the built-in valuation uses Meat & Livestock Australia market indicators; elsewhere, enter your local price.
For a sharper reading
Optionally, add the ruler sheet to your photos to give CattleScale a known size to work from. It is optional, and the result is still an estimate, not a scale reading.
Estimate only, not a weigh scale
CattleScale is not a weigh scale and is not certified for trade. Do not buy, sell, consign or calculate a drench dose from a number this app gives you. It is not trade-use measurement under Australia's National Measurement Act 1960. Sale by weight needs an approved scale.
A photograph has no scale of its own, so the estimate depends on the reference object you name. Gut fill varies through the day, coat and condition disguise frame, and camera angle distorts proportion. When CattleScale spots something in your photos that affects the estimate, it tells you. Read those warnings before you act.
No account required
There is no sign-up and no password. Your photographs are read by an AI provider to produce the assessment and are deleted from our systems once it finishes. Google's Gemini or OpenAI read them and may keep them briefly under their own terms. We use analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it; see our privacy policy for details.
