One secret word. One or more imposters. Can your friends spot who is pretending?
Imposter is a face-to-face secret word party game for three or more players. Gather around one phone, reveal your private cards, share one-word clues, discuss the suspicious answers and vote for the player you think is hiding the truth. No online room or second device is needed to play together.
HOW THE GAME WORKS
Set up your group and choose how many imposters are in the match. The number of imposters always stays below half of the players. Add your friends' names, then pass the phone around so each person can see only their own card. Most players receive the same automatically selected secret word. Imposters see their role but do not see the word.
Once everyone has seen a card, take turns giving a clue related to the word. Say just one word, listen carefully, and try not to give away too much. A civilian has to show they know the answer without making the imposter's job easy. An imposter has to blend in, learn from everyone else's clues and work out the hidden word.
When your group is ready, begin the vote. Each player selects one suspect. Only the player with the most votes is eliminated. If the vote is tied, vote again. If you eliminate an innocent player, the game continues into another round with the remaining players. Catch an imposter and they get a chance to guess the secret word. A correct guess gives the imposter the win; a wrong guess removes them from the game. Keep playing until the group or the imposters win.
MADE FOR GAME NIGHT
• One-phone pass-and-play: the game stays in the room with your friends.
• Flexible group size: play with 3 to 50 players and choose multiple imposters when the group is large enough.
• Fresh secret words selected automatically; no one has to prepare a word list or host the match.
• Edit player names so everyone recognizes their card and vote.
• Clear voting, elimination and result screens help the group follow each round.
• Play in English, French or Arabic.
• Switch between dark and light themes, with sound and vibration controls in Settings.
This social deduction game is built around conversation, observation and a little bluffing. It works as an icebreaker for friends, family gatherings, parties and group game nights. Every clue can make you look trustworthy—or put the spotlight on you. Try an obvious clue and you may help the imposter. Try one that is too vague and the group may vote you out.
You can keep a match simple with one imposter or make a larger group more unpredictable with several. The secret word is shared by ordinary players, so the challenge is not to memorize rules or solve a puzzle alone: it is to read the room. Watch how people react to each clue, remember who hesitated, and decide whether an unusual answer is a clever hint or a lucky bluff. Once the votes are in, the group learns whether its suspicion was justified. A wrong elimination changes the next round and makes every remaining clue matter more.
The private-card flow is designed for passing a single phone around the table. Each player opens their own card, hides it, then hands the device to the next person. After the reveal, everyone can focus on speaking and listening instead of staring at a screen. That makes Imposter an easy party game to bring to a café, a trip, a family evening or a quick break with friends.
Choose your players, deal the secret cards and see who can keep their story straight. Will the group find every imposter, or will the imposters solve the word first?
Imposter is played locally on one device. It includes advertising. An internet connection may be needed for ads, but the pass-and-play game does not need an online room or account.
