Mawqut is an astronomical prayer timer, it bases on internal calculations and sunrise-sunset.org to get times as follows:
- Al-Fajr is calculated internally based on Hour Angle Equation where by default it takes the astronomical twilight angle 18 degrees, the user can adjust the degree from the settings screen.
- Al-Dhuhr is at the day noon, where on “Online” mode the day noon is retrieved from https://api.sunrise-sunset.org/ and on ”Offline” mode the day noon is calculated internally based on Equation of Time (EoT).
- Al-Asr is calculated internally based on Hour Angle Equation where the solar zenith angle for Hanafi school is when the length of the object's shadow equals the length of the object's shadow at the noon plus twice the object's height, and for other schools is when the length of the object's shadow equals the length of the object's shadow at the noon plus the object's height.
- Al-Maghreb is at the sunset, where in “Online” mode the sunset is retrieved from https://api.sunrise-sunset.org/ and in ”Offline” mode the sunset is calculated internally based on Hour Angle Equation where the solar zenith angle is 90°.
- Al-Ishaa is calculated internally based on Hour Angle Equation where by default it takes the astronomical twilight angle 18 degrees, the user can adjust the degree from the settings screen.
