Chaoscope puts that raw mathematical beauty right in your pocket. This app is a modern Android reimagining of the legendary Chaoscope desktop tool originally created by Nicolas Desprez. His pioneering work introduced countless people to the visual wonder of strange attractors, and this app carries that torch forward — rebuilt from scratch for today's mobile devices, with the same spirit of exploration and discovery at its core. What are strange attractors? When certain mathematical systems evolve over time, they never settle into a fixed point or a simple loop. Millions of trajectory points are accumulated into a high-resolution canvas, then mapped through a smooth logarithmic curve that brings out fine structure in both the bright cores and the faint outer wisps. The result is images with a cinematic depth that simple scatter plots can never achieve. Vivid, customisable colour palettes Choose from seven carefully crafted palettes — Nebula, Fire, Electric, Aurora, Matrix, Greyscale, and Greyscale Inverted — each designed to reveal a different mood hidden inside the same attractor. A fiery Lorenz feels like a solar eruption; the same system in Electric crackles like a lightning storm. The attractor is the skeleton; the palette is the soul. Full 3D camera control For the three-dimensional attractors, take the director's chair.
