About this app

ChatBackup is a BACKUP AND RESTORE app for your chats. Its main function is to read the backup folder that WhatsApp saves on your phone (Android/media/com.whatsapp)—the message database and all media files—and save it to your own Google Drive.

To do this, ChatBackup needs the "Access all files" permission: the backup belongs to another app and contains thousands of files that aren't just photos (encrypted database, documents, voice notes, stickers). Without this permission, the app can't make backups and becomes unusable. The app only READS this folder: it never modifies or deletes your files.

More than just a chat, it's your history.

WHAT IT DOES
• Complete backup of your conversations: messages, photos, videos, audio, voice notes, and documents.

• Automatically detects whether you have WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business and copies the correct folder.

• Restores your old chat history from the backup you already have on your phone.

• Upload the backup to a folder in your own Google Drive.

• View and search your backed-up chats from your phone or at chatbackup.online.

• The backup continues in the background, with progress notifications.

YOUR PRIVACY FIRST
• Your files are saved to your Google Drive, not our servers.

• ChatBackup can only see the files it creates in your Drive.

• Message text is deleted from our server as soon as your Drive confirms receipt.

• You can delete your account and all your data at any time directly from the app.
