About this app
CheckUrMed is a smart-phone app dedicated to saving lives and safeguarding health through access to safe medicine. We do this by enabling the users of our app to verify the authenticity of their medication which is checked against our secure database of genuine medicines.
Why is CheckUrMed needed?
Fake and substandard medicines present a serious global threat to health.
It is believed 10% of prescribed drugs in low and middle income countries are counterfeit or fake
Fake antimalarials accounted for 20% of fake drugs reports to the WHO in 2017.
The increasing popularity of legal and safe generic medicine is being targeted by counterfeiters because they are easier to pass off as genuine.
Counterfeit medicines is a growing global problem, including in Europe and the US for high value and high demand medicines.
CheckUrMed empowers the customer to protect their and their family’s health.
CheckUrMed can help Government regulatory authorities and law enforcement in their efforts to defeat counterfeit drugs. The app also reduces the risk of people suffering serious injury or death arising from the use of counterfeit drugs.
We can help identify incidents of counterfeit drugs entering the supply chain, thereby helping to increase confidence in the legal medicine market.
Information from the app can assist in identifying regional prescribing trends which may indicate a local outbreak of disease or to incorrect prescribing/over prescribing patterns.
Medical professionals who use the CheckUrMed app in hospitals and clinics can feel confident in knowing that they are administering safe medicine.
How does CheckUrMed work?
The customer downloads the FREE CheckUrMed app to their smart phone from Google Play.
To check that the medicines they received are genuine, they open the app and follow the simple instructions. Using the phone camera, the app will scan the medicine packaging and some security features on the packaging.
This information is then checked against the CheckUrMed secure database of safe medicines and genuine packaging. The customer is then given a Verdict which informs them whether their medicine pack is genuine, suspicious or unknown. We will continue to add to our database of safe medicines.
CheckUrMed uses location data to find areas where fake medicines are being sold and we use this data to advise the customer to be vigilant. Location data also alerts Pharmacists to batches of possible fake medicines or medicines which are being illegally entering the supply chain from out of region.
We don’t need your name or e-mail address. All data is anonymous and is managed subject to EU GDPR rules.
