About this app

Dot Gain Simulation is an interactive simulator for understanding dot gain in offset and flexographic printing.
How it works
The app shows the relationship between film coverage (input) and printed paper coverage (output). You can vary the input value and maximum dot gain with sliders and view the printing characteristic curve and the result on halftone screens in real time.
Key Features
Interactive controls for Film Value (Input %) and Maximum Dot Gain
Visual comparison between film and print screen
At-a-glance statistics: Input, Dot Gain, and Output with F_F, F_D, and Z symbols
Dynamic graph with ideal curve (45°) and actual curve with highlighted area for dot gain
Info icon for explanation of symbols and terminology
Interface in Italian and English
Terminology
F_F: film coverage (theoretical value before printing)
F_D: printing coverage (actual value on paper)
Z: dot gain, i.e., Z = F_D − F_F (dot expansion)
Who it's for
Ideal for graphic designers, typographers, and students who want to understand and simulate dot gain and the printing characteristic curve.
Simulates dot gain in printing. Film, dot gain, and curve.
