• Play, record, and import (free) — Move the pieces or type moves; every game autosaves. Import from Chess.com or Lichess, or load PGN/FEN/JSON.

• Stockfish engine analysis (Eco preset free · deeper presets $5) — The free "Eco" preset provides an evaluation bar, best line, and candidate moves. The unlock adds the Fast, Balanced, Deep, and Max presets, the interactive evaluation graph, and the whole-game analyzer.

• On-device AI commentary ($5 unlock) — Qwen2.5 1.5B or Gemma 3 1B run locally via llama.cpp on desktop or Transformers.js (WASM) on Android. No cloud, no API key — nothing leaves your device.

• 26,000+ game library (your games free · full library $5) — Your own games are free, autosaved, and searchable forever. The unlock adds 9,254 classic games, 11,336 theory games, and 5,037 puzzles.

• Puzzle system ($5 unlock) — 5,037 mate puzzles rated 800–2500, with Normal, Random, and adaptive Streak modes (+80 ELO per solve). Your best streak is saved forever.

• Theory and study system ($5 unlock) — 11,336 master games across 37 categories: openings, middlegame, endgames, and book collections. Progress is tracked per game.

• Assistive Coach ($5 unlock) — Six ELO levels, from 800 to 2500. The engine plays at your level, then explains every move: centipawn loss, best move, and a positional summary.

• Opening detection (free) — A 515 KB offline ECO database names the opening as you play, with an "out of book" marker and per-opening win/loss/draw statistics.

• Smart natural-language search (free) — "Catalan where I didn't blunder before move 25." Understands results, opponents, dates, ratings, castling, promotions, and brilliancies — on your own library.

• Chess.com and Lichess import (free) — Enter a username and date range. Chess Journal fetches your archives, detects your color, and imports every game with full metadata.

• Board editor (free) — Set up any position by hand. Castling rights and en passant targets are derived automatically.
