About this app

ChoreLock gives you screen time control that runs on chores. You set the chores. Your child's phone keeps the apps you choose locked until the work is done.

IMPORTANT: ChoreLock is two apps. This is the parent app, for your phone. Your child's phone needs the free ChoreLock Child app, which pairs to this one with a linking code.

WHY PARENTS USE IT

• Screen time stops being an argument. The phone enforces the rule, so you are not the one saying no.
• Chores get done without nagging, because the apps stay locked until they are.
• You approve from anywhere. You do not have to be in the room, or in the house.
• Nothing else on the phone is affected. Calls, messages and the camera keep working.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Create a family and add each child.
2. Set their chores, and decide what each one is worth in points.
3. Choose which apps to lock, and when.
4. Pair your child's phone by scanning a QR code.
5. When they mark a chore done, you get a notification and approve it from wherever you are.

WHAT YOU CAN SET UP

• Chores. Daily, on chosen days, or one-off. Give each one a point value.
• Photo proof. Ask for a picture when it matters, or let simple chores be self-marked with no approval needed.
• App locks. Pick exactly which apps lock, and the times they lock.
• Screen time limits. A daily total, or a separate limit for individual apps.
• Bedtime. A different start and end time for each day of the week, so school nights and weekends can differ.
• Rewards. Decide what points can be spent on. Your child requests, you approve.
• Extra time. Grant more minutes from your phone when something comes up, without changing the rules.
• Two parent phones. Both see the same chores, both get approval notifications, and the app shows which of you handled what.

HOW THE SCREEN TIME CONTROL WORKS

The lock lives on your child's phone, not on your goodwill. When a chore is not done by the time you set, the apps attached to it stop opening, and a screen appears telling your child which chore is holding them and what to do about it. Mark the chore done, get it approved, and the apps come straight back.

Because the rule is set once in advance, screen time control stops depending on whether you have the energy for the argument that evening.

WHO IT IS FOR

Families with children old enough to have their own Android phone, and young enough that screen time still needs a boundary. It suits households where one parent carries most of the enforcement, where chores are forgotten rather than refused, and where taking the phone away has stopped working.

It is not a spying tool. ChoreLock does not show you what your child reads, types, or says to anyone.

WHAT WE DO NOT DO

No ads. No analytics or tracking of any kind. No location. We do not read messages, contacts or notifications, and we never sell anything about your family.

Our full privacy policy sets out exactly what is collected. You can erase everything from inside the app at any time, under Settings, Delete everything.

What’s new

Setting up app locking is now three clear steps, and it tells you in plain words what locks and when — including that apps stay locked until the chore is done, not just until midnight.

Fixed: approvals sometimes never appeared.

Finished one-time chores move out of the way instead of sitting there done forever, and the setup checklist now counts each child separately.
