About this app

Measure, record, and analyze magnetic fields in real time using your phone’s built-in magnetometer. Physics Toolbox Magnetometer is a precise EMF and magnetic field meter trusted by students, teachers, engineers, and researchers worldwide.

Four Powerful View Modes
• Chart View
Live graph of magnetic field strength in microtesla (µT) over time across X, Y, Z axes and total magnitude.
• Multi Graph
Compare all axes simultaneously in a multi-panel display.
• Digital Readout
Clean numerical interface for precise real-time measurements.
• 3D Compass
Visualize magnetic field direction in three dimensions.

Advanced Data Tools
• Record and export data as CSV via email, Google Drive, or any sharing app
• Three signal filters: Kalman, Low Pass, and Moving Average
• Adjustable sample rate for slow or fast phenomena
• Switch between elapsed time and clock time on the x-axis
• Fullscreen graph view for detailed inspection
• Customizable plot line thickness

Classroom and Lab Ready

Designed for real scientific investigation. Use it to:
• Verify the inverse square law for a point source magnet
• Measure solenoid field strength as a function of current or coil geometry
• Detect the frequency of magnetically driven objects such as speakers or stirrers
• Map Earth’s background magnetic field
• Locate hidden permanent magnets or ferromagnetic materials
• Demonstrate electromagnetic induction concepts

Professional and Hobbyist Applications
• EMF detection and field mapping
• Speaker and motor diagnostics
• Geomagnetic surveys and field work
• Metal and magnet proximity sensing
Measure magnetic fields with your phone. Graph, record & export sensor data.

Very cool app. As a watch collector, I use it to make sure my watches are not near anything magnetic and to test objects that I think might be. You can even use it to determine if your watch has been accidentally magnetized (which changes its ability to keep correct time). Very helpful! Thanks for the cool app!

all you need in a simple phone app. makes the most out of the sensors in your phone, and you can do some cool things a great app. ( I was playing around with a magnet and some of my watches.... to see which ones get wrecked by magnetism. MilGauss won easily, with its Faraday cage, with Seiko 5 skx actually getting stopped by a magnet. GPW1000 was ultimate winner, as even getting magnetised didn't worry it's digital brain, and 55min past the hands just snap back to correct time). 5 stars

it's a good app but technical issues. max sampling rate of 100Hz defeats the purpose. most appliances in North America are at 60 Hz. sampling rate below 120 Hz won't work. also it packs accuracy. measured sampling rate is 65 Hz while by default it claims as 100 Hz.
