DNP3 Simulator is a free engineering tool for testing and learning DNP3
(IEEE 1815) communications, right from your Android device.
Use it in three modes:
• MASTER — connect to a real DNP3 outstation/RTU/IED, poll it, read points
(binary, analog, counters) and send control commands. Great for commissioning
and troubleshooting a SCADA link.
• OUTSTATION (RTU) — simulate a field device. Build a point list, start the
outstation, and let a real master poll your phone as if it were an IED. Toggle
binary inputs, change analog values and increment counters live to test how
your SCADA reacts.
• SERIAL MONITOR — watch DNP3 frames on a USB-to-serial line and decode them.
Features:
• TCP/IP and serial (USB-OTG) connectivity.
• Reusable connection profiles for master and outstation roles.
• Point lists with import/export as XML to share setups between devices.
• Live console with a command reference and exportable text logs.
• Light and dark themes. Works fully offline — no account, no cloud.
• Built-in user manual (PDF).
Privacy-friendly: the app collects no personal data, has no ads and no tracking.
All connections are made only to the address you enter.
DNP3 protocol support is provided by the open-source Step Function I/O DNP3
library (github.com/stepfunc/dnp3). This app is an independent project and is
not endorsed or certified by Step Function I/O.
The software is provided as-is; you are responsible for testing and for any use
against real equipment.
