Your attention is the product. Reels, Shorts and infinite feeds are built by large teams to hold it as long as possible. BrainShield closes those screens — and only those screens.

■ HEAVY FOCUS MODE For the day willpower runs out. Distraction rewires you to want more of it, so the moment you feel like switching protection off is the moment it matters most.

Heavy Focus Mode locks every switch. Turning it off means retyping a freshly generated 16-character code, shown only at that moment. Optional uninstall protection stops the app being removed until you disable it from inside. Streaks track every day you hold the line, with milestones at day 2, day 4, then weekly and monthly.

■ TWO BLOCKING ENGINES

Screen detection — reads the foreground screen and closes blocked surfaces in real time, including modded clients that rename themselves to dodge simple app blockers.
Local DNS filter — resolves blocked domains to nothing, covering every app, browser and in-app web view, not just the ones on a list.

■ WHY IT WORKS WHEN OTHER BLOCKERS DON'T Most app blockers only know app names, so a modded client that renames itself walks straight past them. BrainShield checks four layers before it acts — your own locked list, the package name, the exact screen you are on, and the shape of the feed itself — so a renamed clone still gets closed.

■ COMMON QUESTIONS Does it block the whole app? No. It closes only the screen you chose. Instagram messages and posts keep working while Reels does not. Can I get out if I really need to? Yes. Ordinary switches turn off any time. Only Heavy Focus Mode makes you type the code first. Does it work in Chrome and other browsers? Yes. The DNS filter covers every app, every browser and in-app web views. Does it need root? No. Will it keep working after a restart? Yes, everything comes back automatically.

■ BUILT TO SURVIVE REAL PHONES Services restart after a reboot. A health check detects the force-stop "zombie" state — where Android still lists a service as enabled but never re-binds it — and tells you how to repair it, instead of silently protecting nothing.

■ HOW IT USES ACCESSIBILITY BrainShield uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect and close specific screens (Reels, Shorts, Reddit) inside the apps you choose to restrict, and to close any app you lock in Heavy Focus Mode. It does not read or store your personal content.

The VPN permission runs a local DNS sinkhole on your own device. Your traffic is not proxied through any server of ours.
