USCIS changed the citizenship test on 20 October 2025.
If you filed Form N-400 on or after that date, you take the 2025 version: 128 questions instead of 100, 20 asked at the interview instead of 10, and 12 correct to pass instead of 6. File before that date and you take the 2008 test, unchanged.
A lot of the citizenship test study material out there still teaches the old one. Civia asks a single question first — when did you file? — and everything after that is the right version for you.
WHAT YOU GET
• Every official civics question, for your test
All 128 questions of the 2025 US citizenship test or all 100 of the 2008 test, reproduced from the USCIS study materials, with every answer the officer accepts — not just one wording.
• The nine answers that change, kept current
Your President, Vice President, Speaker, Chief Justice, your senators, your representative, your governor and your state capital — looked up for your state and stamped with the date they were checked.
• Practice out loud, because the real test is spoken
Answer with your voice and get scored on what you actually said. Works with an accent. If you would rather not use the microphone, mark your own answer instead — every session still works.
• Study what you keep missing, not all 128
Questions you get wrong come back sooner and more often. The home screen shows one number: how many you still miss. It goes down.
• A mock test that stops where the real one stops
20 questions asked, 12 to pass, and it ends the moment the result is decided — 12 right or 9 wrong. That is how the naturalization interview actually runs.
• The English reading and writing tests too
Practice sentences built only from the official USCIS reading and writing vocabulary lists.
• The full N-400 interview rehearsal
The oath, the questions about your N-400 application, then civics. About twelve minutes, end to end.
• Exemptions worked out for you
50/20, 55/15 and 65/20. If you qualify for the 65/20 exemption, Civia studies only the 20 starred questions, because that is all you will be asked.
