CleanCut mutes swearing in videos you already own — films, home recordings, downloads — so you can watch them with family without the language.
Point it at a video. CleanCut listens to the speech, finds the profanity, and silences those moments during playback. You can also bleep them instead, mask them in subtitles, save a cleaned copy, or cast the filtered version to your TV.
EVERYTHING HAPPENS ON YOUR PHONE
CleanCut does its own speech recognition on-device. Your videos are never uploaded. There is no account to create, no server to trust, and no subscription. Put your phone in aeroplane mode and it still works.
That is not a marketing line — it is how the app is built. CleanCut has no analytics, no advertising, and no crash reporting.

Three severity tiers you can switch on and off independently:
- Mild — damn, hell etc
- Strong — the harder words
- Blasphemy — for viewers who want religious language filtered too
Every word is editable. Add your own, remove ones you do not mind.

HONEST ABOUT THE LIMITS
Speech recognition is very good but not perfect. Mumbled dialogue, heavy accents, loud music and overlapping speech can all cause a word to be missed. CleanCut includes a verify pass and full manual editing precisely because of this. If you are showing something to children, check it first.
CleanCut filters video files stored on your device. It does not filter streaming services, which do not allow other apps to modify their playback.
