CakeDesk is an order book for a home bakery. Every order sits on the day it is collected, with the deposit and the balance on the same screen and a suggested price worked out from what your own ingredients cost.
THE WEEK, COUNTED BACKWARDS
Tell the app once what a kind of job takes, and it lays the work out from each pickup day. A decorated cake that needs shopping three days before, baking two days before, filling the day before and decorating on the day appears on those days by itself. Thursday says to bake the Saturday sponge without you working it out again on a Friday night.
A day with more pickups than you take on is marked, using a limit you set.
WHAT AN ORDER HOLDS
The customer, the occasion, the pickup time, whether you are delivering it, the design notes and the allergy notes in the customer's own words. An allergy note taken once on a customer appears on every order of hers after it. Photographs of what was asked for. Each item on the order carries its own price, and the order carries the deposit you asked for, everything paid so far and what is left.
Orders already agreed keep the currency they were agreed in, so changing your own currency later never rewrites an old price.
COSTING THAT SHOWS ITS WORKING
Enter what you buy and what the pack costs. Each recipe works out its own cost from those prices, and the suggested price on an order is worked out again when a price changes. The price you agreed with the customer never moves.
The suggested price adds your hands-on time at your hourly rate, your packaging, a percentage for overheads, and a margin taken out of the price rather than added onto the cost. It is a suggestion beside the price you decided, never instead of it, and the app says so on the screen.
Where it cannot cost a line honestly it says which line and why, rather than quietly leaving it out of the total.
INGREDIENT LABELS
A label sheet with the ingredients in order of weight, the allergens, the product name and the net weight, laid out several to a page.
The allergen list and the fields on the label depend on the market you choose. A United States cottage food label and a United Kingdom prepacked for direct sale label do not carry the same fields, and the app does not pretend they do. Any statement your product and location require goes in a box you fill in yourself. CakeDesk prints what you typed and does not certify that a label meets any requirement.
DOCUMENTS
A quote while the price is still being agreed, an invoice once it is, and a receipt once nothing is owed. An order sheet for the kitchen with the steps, the notes and the reference photographs, and no prices on it at all.
THE MONTH IN FIGURES
What you collected, the deposits you are holding, what is still owed, what your ingredients cost, and how many hours went in. Deposits are shown apart from what you have collected. Export it as CSV.
ALSO IN THE APP
Reminders for tomorrow's steps and for deposits and balances as they fall due. One backup file with your whole book in it, photographs included, that restores onto another Android phone. Ten languages. A tablet layout. It works with no connection and asks for no account.
WHO IT IS FOR
People selling cakes, cupcakes, cookies and bread from a home kitchen, who are quoting from a notebook and want the order book and the costing in one place.
The standard tier keeps five open orders at a time. Unlocking lifts that and opens the label sheet, the reports and the CSV export. Everything you have already entered stays open to you and can still be changed, whichever tier you are on.
