ChairRent is a rent ledger for people who rent out a seat rather than a property: salon and barbershop chairs, tattoo booths, market pitches, studio desks.
It answers one question on the day you need it answered. Who owes me rent, and how far behind are they.
THE RENT WALL
A row for every renter, a column for every rent period. The whole month reads at a glance without tapping anything.
Each tile carries its state in its shape as well as its colour, so the wall still reads if you cannot separate the two: a filled disc is paid, a part filled one shows how far, a heavy ring is overdue, a plain ring is due, hatching is waived.
Come back from collecting rent, tap a tile, mark it paid, and the wall goes clean.
WHAT IT RECORDS
- Renters with a space label you choose: Chair 3, Booth B, Pitch 12, Desk 4.
- Weekly, fortnightly or monthly rent, with the due day you actually use.
- Part payments, several against one period if that is how it came in.
- Overpayment carried forward as credit against the next period.
- Waived periods, recorded as waived rather than quietly written off.
- A numbered receipt for every payment, CR-0001 onward, never reused.
- Payment method and reference: cash, bank transfer, card or other.
- A deposit held per renter, tracked apart from the rent ledger.
- Notes, phone and email, all optional.
ARREARS, AGED
Outstanding rent grouped by how long it has been outstanding: 1 to 7 days, 8 to 30, and 31 or more. Tap any renter to open their statement.
Each currency is subtotalled on its own. There is no combined total, because adding two currencies together produces a confident number that means nothing.
DOCUMENTS YOU CAN HAND OVER
- A rent statement for one renter: every period, what was due, what came in, the running arrears, and the payment list with receipt numbers.
- An arrears summary for everyone currently in a space, aged.
Both export as PDF through the share sheet. The documents are written in English.
REMINDERS
A nudge on the morning rent falls due, and a weekly one while somebody is behind. Both can be switched off.
YOUR RECORD, ON YOUR PHONE
ChairRent never touches money. Cash and transfers change hands exactly as they already do. ChairRent records what happened.
There is no account to create and no sign in. Your records are held on the device.
Export a backup of every renter, period, payment and receipt to one readable file you keep yourself, and restore it on another phone. Records are merged by id on restore, so nothing already there is overwritten or deleted.
Archiving a renter keeps their history. A person leaving does not erase what they paid you.

ChairRent is an informal rent ledger for your own records. It is not a lease, a tenancy agreement, or a legal document, and it does not provide legal, tax, or employment advice. Rental and worker classification rules vary by country and state, confirm your arrangement with a qualified professional.
The people renting from you are self-employed and running their own businesses. The app is written that way throughout.
