About this app
DialDay is a meter reading app for the meters in your own home: gas meter readings, electricity meter readings and water meter readings in one place. Once a month you open it, look at last month's photo of the dial, type today's number under it and take a new photo. Each reading takes just a few steps.
The number shows the way the meter shows it: a seven-segment readout padded to the wheels on your dial, so 04821 on the meter is 04821 on the screen.
AFTER EACH READING
• How much you used since the last reading, in kWh, m³ or litres
• With the one-time unlock, an estimated cost based on the tariff rates you enter
• A monthly chart that estimates usage between reading dates, so a reading taken on the 3rd does not put a whole month on the wrong side
• This year's usage total, with comparisons to the same months last year once earlier readings are there
GAS, ELECTRIC, WATER AND MORE
Gas, electricity, water, heating oil, LPG, heat meters and solar export. A meter with day and night registers (Economy 7 and similar) gets a reading for each. Gas read in m³ or hundreds of cubic feet converts to kWh with the calorific value printed on your bill.
TYPOS CAUGHT BEFORE THEY COUNT
If a number is lower than last time, DialDay asks whether the dial went past its top and started again from zero, or a new meter was fitted. A reading three times your usual use gets a second look before it is saved.
A REMINDER ON YOUR READING DAY
Pick a day of the month. DialDay reminds you that morning, and again two days later if a reading is still missing. A "Reminders not arriving?" screen shows what your phone has switched off.
LANDLORDS AND SECOND HOMES
The one-time unlock keeps several properties, each with its own meters and reading day, and makes a PDF of every reading with the dial photos, or a CSV for a spreadsheet. Useful at a tenancy change, a move-out, or when a bill does not look right.
ONE HOME OR SEVERAL
The standard version keeps unlimited readings and photos for one home, with charts, reminders and backup, and one small banner on the usage screen only. The one-time unlock adds several properties, tariffs and cost estimates, PDF and CSV reports, and removes the banner. One payment, no subscription.
YOUR READINGS STAY ON YOUR PHONE
There is no account. Readings and photos are kept on your phone, and a backup file with every photo inside moves them to a new phone.
DialDay works as a simple utility meter tracker and keeps your own record. It does not send readings to your energy or water supplier, and costs are estimates from the rates you enter, not a bill.
