About this app

A freeze dry batch log and pantry inventory for your home freeze dryer. DryBatch records every batch you run: the food, the trays, the weight in and out, the cycle time and the settings you used. Then it keeps track of the bags and jars you packed, with your own best-by dates, so you can see what to use first.

THE BATCH CARD
One screen per batch: weight in, weight out and the share of weight lost in drying (shown as water removed), cycle time, cost per batch and cost per bag, plus the freeze and dry settings you used. Tap Repeat batch and the next run of the same food starts from those settings, with the start time set to now.

EVERY BATCH, ITS OWN RECORD
Food, prep, tray count, weight in grams or ounces, start time, pre-freeze hours, freeze and dry temperatures, extra dry time, food cost, weight out, a 1 to 5 rating, notes and up to six photos. Your food library keeps the settings you recorded for each food's most recent batch.

FINISH ALARM
Type the time your machine says the cycle ends and DryBatch reminds you to check it, weigh it and log the result. A batch still in the machine shows at the top of the list with its due time.

COST PER BATCH AND PER BAG
Set your machine's average draw and the price you pay for a kWh. DryBatch estimates the electricity cost from the cycle hours, the draw and the rate you enter, adds the food cost, and divides by the bags or jars you packed. Choose a power draw preset or enter your own wattage from a plug-in power meter.

PANTRY INVENTORY AND USE-FIRST ORDER
Pack a finished batch into mylar bags, jars or other containers in one step: how many, the size, the label, an oxygen absorber or not, the shelf and your best-by date. The pantry lists everything in store, opened bags first and then the soonest date, with the three soonest by your own dates at the top. Mark a bag opened or used, search by food or shelf, and filter by food group.

SUPPLIES
Keep count of mylar bags, oxygen absorbers, jars and lids. Packing a batch deducts the bags or jars and the absorbers used from your recorded stock, and anything at or below its low mark shows as a short shopping list.

REMINDERS
Before a bag reaches the best-by date you set, and once a month to look over the pantry. A built-in check shows whether notifications and on-time alarms are switched on for the app.

PANTRY SHEET AND CSV
A PDF of what is in store, with photos, counts, shelves and dates, to pin inside a cupboard door. A CSV of your batch history for your own spreadsheet.

YOUR RECORDS STAY YOURS
Batches, photos and the pantry stay on your phone. There is no account. Save a local backup file of your records and photos, and restore it on another phone. Backup works on every plan.

PLANS
The standard plan has unlimited batches, photos, the batch card, Repeat batch, the finish alarm, the food library and a pantry of 40 bags and jars, with a small banner ad on the Pantry and Supplies tabs. Pro removes the ads and the pantry limit and adds cost per batch and per bag, supplies, pantry reminders, the pantry sheet and the CSV. You can try Pro for 14 days first, with no card. Everything you logged stays readable and editable on every plan.

WORKS WITH ANY HOME FREEZE DRYER
DryBatch does not connect to or control your machine. You type what you ran.

WHAT DRYBATCH DOES NOT DO
DryBatch does not say whether food is dry enough, safe or shelf stable, and it never works out a shelf life. Best-by dates are the ones you set. Follow your machine's manual and trusted food safety guidance.
