About this app

Why I built germanpod!
Living in Germany, I realized that existing language apps weren't cutting it. I was tired of rigid curriculums that taught me basic, isolated words but left me completely speechless in real-life scenarios—whether I was trying to argue with lazy customer support, explain a situation to a doctor, or simply listen to my favorite podcast. Even when I did look up new words, I’d forget them by the next day.

As a learner myself, I needed an app that actually encouraged me to memorize sentences, nail the pronunciations, and most importantly, not feel discouraged after a few days. So, I built germanpod!.

After consistently opening this app for 30 days and mastering 100 to 150 new words a week—something I could never achieve before—I decided to share it with everyone.

What makes germanpod! different?
We don't try to teach every language under the sun. We are 100% focused on German, and the app is designed to fit your real life.

Core Features:

-> No Fixed Curriculum: You are in control. Generate, input, or extract whatever topics, sentences, or words you actually need for your daily life.

-> AI Podcast Integration: The name is a reminder to keep listening! Enter a podcast name, episode, and your current language level. The AI will generate relevant vocabulary, translate it into English and your native language (whether that's Arabic, Spanish, or anything else), and organize it into an "episode" folder for you to practice.

-> Real-Life Scenario Generator: Need to call a clinic or deal with an internet provider? Just type the topic into the AI generator, and it will instantly provide the exact "push words" and phrases you need for that specific conversation.

-> Smart Screenshot Extraction: German relies heavily on context. If you encounter a confusing text, just take a screenshot. The AI will extract the context, generate the necessary vocabulary based on your level, and translate it for you.

-> Advanced Spaced Repetition (SRS): Any saved word must be remembered correctly 5 times across different exercises to earn 5 stars. Once mastered, the app tests your memory 3 days later, then 10 days later, and finally 30 days later until it is permanently stuck in your brain.

-> YouGlish Integration: Having trouble with a word? Tap the flashcard button to watch videos of real people speaking that exact word in various contexts and dialects. Train your ears to recognize the language as it is actually spoken.

-> Precision Quizzes: Practice typing out words manually to ensure you never forget the spelling, the articles, or those tricky umlauts. You can also listen to native pronunciations directly within the quiz.

-> Built-in Runner Game: Not in the mood for traditional studying? I completely understand. Jump into the addictive, built-in runner game to chill out and passively learn word by word.
