About this app

A journal for closing the day and sealing the month onto your shelf. The notes you have gathered are unfolded again, connected and merged, so your thinking grows.

■ Write in four kinds
· Action — To-dos. Closed at the end of the day.
· Event — What happened. After-the-fact entries welcome.
· Note — Ideas. Unfolded later.
· Habit — A few repeating routines.
Not a fifth kind, but an annotation that attaches to a line. On a finished action or an event, add how you felt at the time — in your own words.

■ Close the day
A list that only grows puts the decision off. When the day ends you decide on every action left — there are three and “next week” is not one of them.

■ Close the month
Each day's records and choices are sealed and shelved. Close all twelve months, and a volume that sums up the year leans behind the twelve.

■ Unfold your thoughts
Rewrite your piled-up notes — add, drop, connect, discard. That is how thoughts grow. When you unfold a thought, you can walk the trail it left.

■ What other journals do not do
Not a calendar — In a calendar you write what lies ahead. Here you also write what already happened — most of it is only worth writing afterwards.
Not a to-do list — What you put off does not stay in a list; it moves to tomorrow. How often it moved stays with it so you can see what you keep putting off.
Not a notes app — The notes you write do not only pile up. In time you copy them over again — adding, removing, connecting, discarding.

■ Locked on your device
Until you ask us to keep them, your entries do not leave your device. Entries you hand over travel only in locked form, and we hold no key that opens them. The key is locked with your recovery password, and we do not know that password.

■ Free and subscription
Keep using it for free — subscribing opens keeping and the tidy-up. Writing · closing · the shelf · search · sealing · the tidy-up within this month · the threads mark have nothing to do with a subscription. Your records stay even if you lose or replace a device. Keep writing across devices — records travel only in locked form, and we hold no key that opens them.
