The app wanted to check my location and pick a nearby show (there was only one) every time I opened the app, which was pretty frequently over the course of a 20 minute show - because every time I locked my phone screen it stopped the track, and started the setup process over completely when I unlocked it. The music was mostly not to my taste, only a few times seemed well synced to the show, but it was fun getting the 1812 Overture at the finale. Also: this could have been a web page.

The music was fine, but seemed random. I have seen fireworks displays where the music was timed to the display, that adds to it. This is not that. based on my experience, you are better off just playing songs from your favorite music app, or just forgoing music entirely.

So this is a good idea for music at a firework show. That way your not running your car....What i dont understand is why the app needs so many permissions, especially location, if you you need to put in a specific code to tell it which show your at. Then it downloads the music. You must allow the permissions to even open the app. This is where i deleted the app. Seems like they are collecting your data but admittedly didnt even use it.

This is Scott Smith, I am the CEO of Pyrocast. I am so sorry re: permissions. The permissions are namely for storage of the audio file and access thereto. The location is for geolocation features we plan to support future features. I can assure you we don't collect any personal information. However, we'll revisit this as this is new tech for us!
