HOW IT WORKS ON ANDROID — VpnService USAGE DISCLOSURE
Android does not provide a built-in mechanism to configure a custom DNS server system-wide without root access. To achieve system-wide DNS filtering, CodaDNS uses Android's VpnService API to create a local virtual network interface that intercepts only DNS queries (UDP port 53).

All intercepted DNS queries are forwarded to our DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) server at https://dns.codadns.com using an encrypted HTTPS connection (TLS). No user internet traffic (HTTP, HTTPS, or any other protocol) is tunneled or routed through this VPN interface — only DNS packets are intercepted and proxied.

This is the standard approach used by all system-wide DNS filtering apps on Android (NextDNS, AdGuard DNS, etc.) and is required solely to provide parental control and content filtering features without requiring root access.

Technical details:
• VPN interface: local address 10.0.0.2/24
• DNS server: 10.0.0.1 (local fake DNS)
• Route: only 10.0.0.1/32 — no internet traffic is affected
• All DNS queries forwarded via HTTPS/TLS to dns.codadns.com
• No data logging beyond your own account's query history
