Cat Merge is a puzzle game about dropping cats into a box and watching them turn into bigger cats.
When two of the same kind touch, they merge into the next one up. A pair of kittens becomes a grey tabby, two tabbies become a ginger, and so on up the ladder until you reach a lion. Merge two lions and you have finished the whole thing.
The catch is space. Every cat you drop takes up room, and the box fills faster than you expect. Drop carelessly and you end up with a pile of odd cats that will never find a partner. There is a line near the top, and if the pile sits above it for too long, the run is over.
It is easy to pick up. Drag to aim, let go to drop. Getting good at it takes longer, because you have to think about where a cat will roll and what it will land on.
If you get stuck there are four things that can help. Swap two cats around, undo your last drop, take a cat out of the box entirely, or bump one cat up to the next size. They cost coins, and you earn coins by reaching the bigger cats, so they are worth saving for the moments that really matter.
The game plays in portrait, with one hand, and a run lasts a few minutes. It works offline.
There is no timer and nothing chasing you. Take as long as you like over every drop.
Drop cats, match pairs and see how big you can get before the box fills up.
