What is Cevşen-i Kebir?
Cevşen-i Kebir is a blessed prayer brought to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by Gabriel (peace be upon him) during the Battle of Uhud. Gabriel (peace be upon him) said to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him):

"Remove your armor and recite this prayer. If you carry it and recite it, it will have a greater effect than armor."

He said. Upon this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked whether the prayer was exclusive to him or also to his community, and Gabriel (peace be upon him) replied:

"O Messenger of Allah, this prayer is a gift from Allah to you and your community. Only Allah knows its reward." (Ahmed Ziyaeddin Efendi, Mecmûatü'l-Ahzâb, Istanbul 1298 R, pp. 231-261.)

Content and Virtue
The word "Jawshan" literally means "armor." This prayer, consisting of 100 sections, contains 10 expressions in each section praising Allah with His names and attributes. Each chapter concludes with the phrase "Subhanaka ya la ilaha illa anta, al-Amaan, al-Amaan, hallisna minannar," seeking refuge in Allah from the fire of Hell.
