About this game

Top rated party game!
Ideal for 2-10 players
Amusing word-based board game
Highly engaging game, requires strategy and language skills :)

Codenames is an easy party game to solve puzzles. Each game lasts between 7-25 minutes depending on the size of the initial board.

The game is divided into two teams red and blue. Each side has a spymaster, whose goal is to lead their team to the final victory.
It is possible to play either in one team mode, so you will decide only the red team spymaster and the game will autoplay the blue team or in two teams mode, in this case you will need to choose a team spymaster for the blue and the red teams.

At the beginning of the game, there will be either 12, 18, 24, 30, 36 or 42 cards (depending on your selection) on the board with different words. The top bar indicates which team starts the game.

Each card has belongs either to the red team, the blue team, it is a neutral card or the black card.
Only the team spymaster can see the color of the cards (Secret Code) when pressing the Show Secret Code button position on the bottom left part of the screen.

The team spymaster should let his team members find out the cards of their corresponding colors by giving a hint (word) which relates a set of cards belonging to its team.
For example:
Suppose - Snake + Mouse + Eagle - belong to the red team. When it is the red team turn, the spymaster can give the following hint: - Animal, 3 - then the member of the team can select up to 3 cards in order to guess the cards belonging to its team. If they select a card which does not belong to the red team then the turn is switched.

*The hint's word can be chosen freely, as long as it is not (and does not contain, nor is contained in) any of the words on the code name cards still showing at that time.

Love having codenames in my hand!! Being able to play against the computer with a friend is also super neat. I only wish the word pool was a little bigger. If you're disappointed by the board size when you first turn it on, check the settings. You can get pretty close to the original's 5x5 with the 24 card layout.

Very enjoyable game, with a clean layout and a lot of configurable options. Works well both in a single player mode as well as for a group of people. Recommended!
