Rift is a place for your friends, your club or your team to talk: text and voice channels, video calls and screen sharing, with every message encrypted on your device before it leaves.
Join a friend's server with one invite link, find a community in the public directory, or run a server of your own on a machine you control.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Messages, files, voice messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted. The server stores only what it can't read, not even for the person who runs it.
• Calls in direct messages use a key only the two of you can work out.
• Link previews are made by the sender, so the server never fetches your links.
• Images are checked on your own device, and sensitive ones are blurred for you.
• No ads, no trackers, no analytics.
EVERYTHING YOUR GROUP USES
• Text and voice channels, private channels and roles
• Voice and video calls, and watching screen shares
• Direct messages inside a server, and with friends you don't share a server with yet
• Replies, forwards, reactions, mentions, pins and polls
• Voice messages and a soundboard
YOUR SERVER, YOUR RULES
Whoever runs a server decides how long messages are kept, how big an attachment can be, how many people fit in a call, and how much storage it gets. Moderators have reports, time-outs, kicks and bans. Everyone gets a say in who can message them, and a block that works.
AN ACCOUNT IS OPTIONAL
Rift works without one. Make a free account to back up your identity encrypted, add friends, and pick up where you left off on your other devices: Windows, Linux and the web.
OPEN SOURCE
The app, the server and the bot SDKs are open source, so anyone can check how the encryption works.
Private chat, voice and video for your group, encrypted on your device.
