- Why use it?
When you get a silver or gold coin with correct weight and size, how can you know it is not a fake coin made of other cheap materials? Traditional ping tests can distinguish true gold or silver coins from counterfeit ones in cheap metal. But you need good ears!

Precious coin tester helps you listen to the sound generated by the ping test and will tell you whether the coin is a cheap metal fake*. So no more worry about the fake gold or silver coin!

- How to ping the coin?
Hold the coin on the tip of one finger near the mic of your phone/tablet, and knock the coin briefly with another hard object. Hold still the coin while it rings. When the sound of coin has diminished, knock it again.

- Which results are good?
Both 2 and 3 stars are good results:

Was free, now wants subscription. It literally just needs to do one thing which shouldn't even require internet for an app to do. So no. This doesn't require maintenance. It's always the same thing. You ding a coin and it interprets. End of story. I'll do a 1-time purchase, not a subscription. Uninstalled.

Used to be great. Updated it to the newest version, and now SO MANY coins are locked unless you buy a subscription. 🤬 Even bought a pocket pinger for using it. I wouldn't be opposed to buying the app but MONTHLY subscription? Very expensive if you ask me. So if I want to check ONE coin that's locked, you need a subscription to check it.

I'm new to the app, so will start it off in the middle. I think it is a fantastic idea, and the longer the users send in data, the more refined it will become. I have already found my first incorrect, repeatable reading and am about to see how the process of reporting the error goes. I am very curious if the paid version has any entries for private mint rounds/bars (might not be feasible, even for only a few popular ones due to inconsistency). I will update rating after experience with the app.
