The Network is an artistic application, a series of mini self-knowledge audio exercises designed for specific places in any city and an invitation to discover the success stories of women who have come out of abusive relationships.
The app explores the essentials of women's empowerment, the inner journey of self-confidence and the role
community as a source of support.
The Network is created as an experience to rediscover the city from the perspective of life stories and a subjective geography, which make up the specificity of the place where we live in a subtle way but as important as the great historical events and emblematic buildings of the city.
The self-knowledge exercises last 15 minutes and are designed in the form of walks and short interactions (sitting by a tree, observing passers-by, texting a friend) that are carried out in the place chosen for each walk: on a bridge, in a public square, in small streets. The user is guided with the help of audio recordings to reflect on himself (how he gets along with family, friends, recalling memories) and learn more about the ways in which abusive relationships can be prevented and what are the sources of support to get out of - such a relationship (through the testimonies of women who have successfully come out of domestic violence relationships).
The Network is part of a cross-media project alongside the ReStart theater show. The two artistic products, the theater performance and The Network app, are designed as complementary parts to attract young audiences and provide an experience in which the audience has an active role. The two components can be accessed in any order: after viewing
the performance, the audience can also explore the app, and this also applies vice versa: starting from the testimonials available online, the audience is invited to participate in the theater performance as well.
