Stone on stone - our churches speak for themselves, the intersection of IT, science and art, a total work of art.
It carries a classic value, with the tools of the contemporary design language. It connects the past with the present, its goal is to root the most precious cultural heritage of a community in the memory of the future, making use of the opportunities provided by the digitalization of the 21st century.
We looked for the answer to how and in what form scientific content can be "accessible" today.
We highlighted a specific section of our built heritage: the churches.
Our churches are the imprints of centuries of ideas and architectural zeitgeist. We consider it important that we can show the values they convey to the widest possible audience in the light of the latest archaeological research. This is what Kő köven offers.
The Kő köven picture book and phone application bring the visitor to the given sacred space close to mysterious, past objects and stories that the given community has built and shaped over centuries. In order for a community to appreciate the legacy of its ancestors, it is important to know the history of its creation.
The knowledge material collected in connection with the given monument church is made available by means of visual trigger codes. We adapted the formal tools to the content values we wanted to present. It is important that commercial symbols, posters, printed banners and QR codes do not appear in the churches through the project, but based on the technological analogy of QR codes, Christian symbols that are not alien to the sacred space form an opening code for the content to be accessed, which codes the mobile phones can process through an application.
The product consists of picture books folded like an accordion, paper towels and a phone application. The images in the scrolls can be scanned with the help of the application, thus making the audio material accessible, which is a dramaturgically edited version of the knowledge materials collected in connection with the given monument church, accompanied by atmospheric music and interpreted by an actor.
These audio materials, called up by smartphones based on codes, allow both individual and group orientation without disturbing the sacredness of the place, paying special attention to the modes of interest and the individual pace of information processing.
The project entitled Kő köven is an innovative, contemporary cultural experiment. It is formally adapted to the needs of the recipient. Through a unique solution, it tries to pass on our sacred legacy to the younger generation in an understandable way.
