Housed within the historic Monastery of Santa Chiara civic complex, the Civic Museum of Noto features several sections that tell the story of the local territory and the evolution of the city over time.

The Pirrone Gallery, inaugurated in the 1990s, is dedicated to the sculptor Giuseppe Pirrone, a native of Noto. Through artworks, documents, and archival materials, visitors can explore his artistic career and the cultural context that shaped his work.

The Medieval Fragments Collection, opened in 2010, brings together artifacts largely recovered from the archaeological excavations carried out at Ancient Noto. Highlights include the valuable sarcophagus of Viceroy Nicolò Speciale, architectural and sculptural fragments, ancient weapons, and numerous medieval objects that document the city’s history before the devastating earthquake of 1693 and the subsequent rise of Baroque Noto.

The museum route also includes the Restored Views Exhibition and dedicated multimedia spaces, designed to provide innovative ways of exploring and understanding the city’s cultural heritage.
