Pehchaan is a public safety and secure city infrastructure app developed by ILO, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Abbottabad Campus, in collaboration with the Abbottabad Police Department and KPK Safe City initiatives. The platform is designed to enhance citizen safety, support secure digital transactions, and improve law enforcement response through technology-driven services.
The app allows civilians to report lost or stolen mobile devices directly to the relevant authorities, helping law enforcement agencies investigate and recover devices more efficiently. Shopkeepers and mobile vendors can securely log mobile device sales and purchase transactions, helping reduce the resale and circulation of stolen devices while promoting transparency in the local mobile trade ecosystem.
Pehchaan also supports safer travel within Abbottabad by enabling civilians to verify taxis and ride-hailing services through QR code verification. Users can scan and verify registered vehicles and drivers before travel, increasing public trust and improving commuter safety across the city.
In addition, citizens can submit complaints and safety-related reports through the platform, allowing authorities to respond more effectively and maintain a safer urban environment. The app provides real-time support for secure coordination between the public and law enforcement agencies.
All user data is securely encrypted and managed with strong privacy and security standards to ensure the protection of sensitive information. Developed under the guidance of CUI Abbottabad and with the support of the Abbottabad Police Department, Pehchaan represents a significant step toward smarter governance, secure travel, and enhanced public safety infrastructure in KPK.
