About this app

CameraAlert helps you stay aware of documented road camera locations using your Android phone’s GPS.

Browse saved cameras, view source information, and receive optional voice and vibration warnings during a drive you start. Start camera alerts keeps the in-app map open, shows your live location and documented camera pins, and warns when a saved camera is nearby. CameraAlert’s driving service continues in the background until you stop it. The map is for camera awareness; it does not provide destinations or turn-by-turn navigation.

• Automatic location refresh when you reopen the app after granting permission. Your last known position is saved only on your phone while fresh GPS loads.

• On-screen nearby-camera warnings and Android notifications, with distance when available.
• Private reports stored locally, with manual export and deletion.
• No account, advertisements, subscription, or in-app purchases.

DOCUMENTED LOCATIONS, NOT CAMERA DETECTION
CameraAlert uses community-mapped coordinates. It does not electronically detect cameras, identify unlisted cameras, or provide access to camera video. Information can be incomplete or outdated. Nearby warnings may include adjacent roads. Standard ahead warnings require documented travel direction, which is often missing.

LOCATION AND PRIVACY
Precise location is required for driving alerts. Location continues while your user-started drive is active, including when the screen is off, with an ongoing notification and a Stop action. GPS quality, device power restrictions, and voice availability affect operation. No continuous GPS track is saved. Optional regional downloads send a rounded area to OpenStreetMap’s Overpass service. Online map tiles share your IP address and viewed area with OpenStreetMap.
