Dam It blocks YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and TikTok feeds - without blocking the whole app. Message friends, watch the links people send you, browse posts as normal. Only the endless scroll stops.

HOW IT'S DIFFERENT

Most blockers lock you out of an entire app. Open Instagram, hit a wall, close Instagram - and lose your DMs and your friends' posts along with the feed.

Dam It is precise. It intercepts one thing: the vertical swipe that loads the next short-form video. Everything else in YouTube, Instagram and TikTok keeps working exactly as before.

Swipe up in a feed and the gesture doesn't land. The video you're on keeps playing. A "Scroll Blocked" overlay appears. The next video never arrives.

Tap a video on purpose, or open a Reel a friend sent you, and it plays perfectly. The dam only holds back the feed you didn't choose.

Blocking runs in the background. After setup you never need to open Dam It again. No launcher to install, no home screen to replace, no daily check-in.

🎯 Blocks the gesture, not the app
Only short-form video feeds are stopped. Your normal YouTube subscriptions, your DMs, stories, comments and search all work normally.

⏸️ Pause it when you mean to
Hold the button on the dashboard to pause protection. No lockout timers, no waiting rooms, no shame screens. You're an adult - Dam It removes the automatic pull, not your choice.

🔋 Light on battery
The Accessibility Service is event-driven. It wakes only when you open a supported app, so real-world battery impact is negligible.

🛡️ No account, no advertising ID
Nothing to sign up for. No email, no password, no profile. The advertising-ID permission is removed from the app entirely.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE DISCLOSURE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Dam It uses Android's AccessibilityService API to deliver its core function: detecting short-form video feeds and intercepting the swipe gesture inside them.

What it does: the service detects which app is in the foreground and recognises when a short-form feed is on screen, then blocks the swipe before Android delivers it to the app.

Why it's required: this is the only mechanism on Android that can distinguish ordinary social media use from short-form feed scrolling, without you toggling something manually every time.

What it does not do: the service reads no screen content, records nothing, and transmits nothing off your device. Gesture detection is on-device and transient. No messages, notifications or browsing activity ever leave your phone.

Separately, and unrelated to the Accessibility Service, the app sends anonymous crash reports and aggregate feature counts, and stores a pseudonymous ID if you use a referral link. That is the complete list. Full detail: https://dam-it.io/privacy
