Downloaded this app at a friend's suggestion. We plan to travel to India and want to be able to experience what a local host and tour guide could offer. Immediately, you have to choose whether to pay for monthly ($2) or yearly ($14) access. After that, they practically demand you get verified, which costs either another $60 or you have to host a traveler for temporary verification. They discourage accepting non-verified travelers WITHIN THE APP, leaving you pretty much no choice. Hard pass.

Not really my favorite experience. There isn't a good "social networking" vibe on the app. For example, finding the person I'm standing next to is near impossible - this gets in the way of our conversation and reduces the number of friends I have on the app. Also, events disappear as soon as they are over which makes it impossible to reconnect with people I forgot to share contact info with. All in all, not a joy to use. Hopeful for the future ☺️

The app is lagging and the messages aren't syncing in time. I would receive messages a day later, it's not refreshing properly, and I haven't been receiving any notifications. But when I use the app on an iOS device, it runs smoothly, it updates and make routinely patches to ensure its quality. As an Android user, I don't feel we're recognize as part of that couch surfing ecosystem.
