Love the shred effects and the explosions but couldn't pass levels past 45 without using all my power ups and coins, watching ads, due to slow size increase of hole even tho I'd nearly cleared the board.

I like it. You need to add a feature. When the level is finished, pop up a box. "Finish it?" Let us select yes or no. If yes, remove all of the good and bad stuff and let us clear the rest. It helps us learn how things fall, and gives a sense of completion.
