Just streamed my first program and I couldn't be more satisfied. I love this kind of programming and have missed it on History Channel for the past few years. I bought the yearly SD subscription for 29.99 primarily to view on my Roku players. I didn't see any value in paying twice as much for HD. The video quality is actually quite good in SD. Also added the app to my LG V20 and it works flawlessly on my phone while on wifi. No buffering, stuttering, or audio issues! Did a short trial run while on mobile data and it works well. Best 30 dollars I've spent in a long time!
Ive had this app for a year and I absolutely love it. If you are on a decent network you shouldn't have any problem streaming. Video quality and content are both top notch. The only issue I have with the app is that the "continue watching" and "history" menus are a little messy and unorganized, not letting me remove programs that I started and decided I wasn't interested in or programs with only a few seconds of the credits left on them.
This app sucks. Designed to steal your money. Took me a couple of hours to cancel my subscription. All links in the app itself to cancel are dead. Had to research on Google on how to actually cancel. Not the type of people i do business with and I definitely list a lot of confidence in Google over this app.
Good service, horrible app! The most annoying thing in the app is the video player. Apart from the unfinished look and feel, it's horrible with data caching. It makes the app totally useless when commuting, which (to me) is the most important use-case. There is an option to change the quality, but I never really got that to work. Each time I re-open the quality box, it re-selected the highest quality. I have the suspicion that it forgets the quality setting when deactivating closed captions. Overall good service. I've enjoyed all of the documentaries I've seen so far. But I don't think it's worth continuing the subscription as the app makes it unusably in the one area where I would watch them. Keeping documentaries available offline (or much better caching) would fix that.
Great service - terrible app. I've really enjoyed the documentaries I've seen, but hoooo boy, the app itself is terrible. No "x seconds" forward/back controls. Runs full screen, even when casting, so that you have to swipe down to access the Android notifications or navigation panel. Unreliable when streaming (loses sound after being paused). And more. Please fix it - I've seen countless better designed apps made available for free, yet for this I pay a monthly fee!
I love this app, wish they would get more of the documentaries I like but there are so many I've watched and you can't beat the price for the entertainment I get from it.
