About this game

This exciting Afrikaans learning program is specially designed for children between 5 and 9 years old. "Reading with Kwakie" helps children master letter sounds, letters, word building and vocabulary in a playful and systematic way.

Using short "Where is Kwakie" stories, children learn to recognize letters, one by one in a logical order: t, T, a, A, b, B, o, O, s, S, i, I, n, N, e, E, l, L. They practice sounds, write letters, build nonsense words and then progress to real words and beautifully illustrated stories. The program builds gradually so that children can confidently start reading and writing in Afrikaans.

Between the literacy activities, there are fun games that strengthen finger and listening skills, number knowledge, counting, number patterns and basic arithmetic. Children listen to story sums, count to 50 and build patterns while they play. Repetition and revision options are built in so that knowledge is well-established.

A girl, Tina, shares instructions and reads stories. The cheerful yellow frog, Kwakie, is always nearby with encouraging claps or congratulatory dance steps - this keeps the child motivated and makes learning great fun!

The program is downloaded once and then works completely offline. No internet connection is required - perfect for car trips, holidays or places without WiFi.
