About this app

Linear Cut List Optimizer helps you plan straight, 90-degree cuts from 1D linear stock. Enter the stock lengths and quantities you have, then the cut lengths and quantities you need. The app creates a visual cutting plan for lumber, timber, metal bars, pipes, tubing, rods, trim, rails and profiles.

Plan before you cut
See which pieces come from each stock length, how many lengths the plan uses and what remains. This linear cut optimizer helps reduce avoidable waste while keeping the plan easy to review.

Use the stock you have
- Add multiple stock lengths and available quantities.
- Enter required cut lengths and quantities separately.
- Plan with mixed stock lengths in one project.
- Use a leftover length by entering it as available stock.
For each project, use stock suited to the same material and profile.

Account for kerf and trim
Set the saw kerf, or blade width, plus start and end trim. Review visible kerf marks and see kerf loss and trim loss separately from remaining offcuts.

Read every stock diagram
Follow visual stock diagrams with cut lengths and remaining offcut labels. Review stock utilization, total stock used, kerf loss, trim loss and remaining offcut. Repeated cutting patterns are grouped so you can read the plan more easily.

Metric or fractional inches
Build a metric cut list or work in fractional inches. Keep stock lengths, required cuts, kerf and trim in the units you use at the bench.

Check before starting
Review feasibility checks, impossible-piece warnings and insufficient-stock warnings before using the plan. Adjust your stock or required lengths when the inputs cannot cover the job.

Take the plan to the workshop
Use Workshop Mode to follow your cut list as you work. Create a PDF cut sheet to share or print for the workshop.

Save your setup
Save projects to return to them later. Use stock presets for lengths you work with regularly, then update quantities for each job.

Cut planning calculations run locally on your device and work offline.

Straight lengths only
This app plans 1D cuts. It does not create 2D sheet or panel nesting layouts, plywood cutting layouts, CAD drawings, CNC toolpaths, structural calculations or angled and miter cuts.
