Many years ago a fledgling intellect invented a way to record visual images. These pictures were captured quickly enough to convey motion, and soon, they used this technology to tell stories. Tradition was to watch in a darkroom, while the flickering lights displayed the motion pictures gigantically against a large wall. These motion pictures were so popular that they added sound, color, and soon the size of screens became small enough to carry, allowing these creatures to watch wherever and whenever they liked. Great movie selection. The app and the website darkroom.film both have their ups and downs. The website provides full color film poster thumbnails, while the app provides film titles within a greyed out rectangle, and sometimes no film title, just a blank grey poster. Nice, very helpful. Ha. The app does have a better search UI. I must say the movie selection is really good; movies I haven't seen in years and most I've never seen but I'm intrigued by the extensive metadata provided for each.

Great value! Only 2 bucks a month and a great selection of lesser known but very good movies, particularly foreign films. Platform doesn't have resume playback which is quite annoying and app doesn't let you full screen videos if they start playing with black bars and there's no PIP, hopefully these get added in the future.

Downloaded the app, tried to sign up, but it would not send a confirmation email. After that odd things started to occur, including something trying to add a payee to my Google pay account. could it have been a coincidence? Sure, but why risk it.
