About this app

The service book for your car, in your pocket - and it counts kilometres as carefully as it counts months.

Car Log keeps what was done to each vehicle, when, at what odometer reading and what it cost. It works out what is due next, and it is honest about the times it cannot.

* SERVICES ARE DUE BY TIME OR BY DISTANCE
Every handbook says "every 6 months or 10,000 km, whichever comes first". Most apps model one of the two.
- Set a time interval, a distance interval, or both
- Whichever comes first is the answer, and the app tells you which one it was
- A timing belt with no time interval works. An inspection with no distance interval works
- Nothing is invented for the half your handbook does not mention

* AN ODOMETER THAT SURVIVES REAL LIFE
Readings go backwards. A replaced instrument cluster, a typo, a number written down while thinking in the other unit.
- A lower reading is stored exactly as you entered it. Nothing is discarded or quietly corrected
- The app marks it so you can see it, and leaves the decision to you
- The current reading is your most recent one - which after a cluster swap is the one on your dashboard
- Predictions ignore the jump instead of being ruined by it

* IT SAYS WHEN IT CANNOT TELL YOU
With one reading, nobody can work out how far you drive in a day - so nothing can honestly say which month a 10,000 km service lands in.
- The app says "not enough readings yet" instead of showing a date it made up
- Add a second reading and the estimate appears
- A service that is already due is always reported, estimate or no estimate

* KILOMETRES OR MILES, WITHOUT LOSING ANYTHING
- One switch, and it changes what you read and nothing else
- Nothing stored is converted or rounded, ever
- Switch back and forth all day; your numbers come back exactly as you typed them

* EVERY VEHICLE, EVERY RECEIPT
- As many vehicles as you keep: a car, a van, a motorbike, a work truck
- What was done, the date, the odometer, the cost and a note
- The whole history in one list, newest first, with the vehicle on every line
- Type up years of paper receipts in an evening; costs and mileage are optional on each one

* REMINDERS THAT KNOW ABOUT MILEAGE
- One notice per vehicle, once per service, never a pile of them in one morning
- Warn me on the day, or a week, a fortnight or a month ahead
- No exact alarms and no background service, so nothing here keeps your phone awake

* YOUR RECORDS STAY ON YOUR PHONE
- No sign-in, no server, nothing uploaded. A connection is used only to load ads
- Android cloud backup is switched off deliberately
- Save a readable JSON copy whenever you like and restore it later - never behind a video or a payment
- No Bluetooth adapter, no dongle, no location and no registration lookup

* IT IS A SERVICE LOG, NOT A FUEL LOG
Fill-ups and running costs are a different job and are not tracked here. That keeps this app quick to use for the thing it does do.

* MADE TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY
- No banner ads. Nothing occupies the screen while you are reading your history
- Light and dark themes, and Material You if you want it
- Prefer nothing at all? One short video turns ads off for a day

Car Log needs a connection only to load ads. Adding vehicles, logging services, the schedule, the reminders, saving a copy and restoring one all work with the phone in flight mode.

What’s new

Settings rows are now tappable across their whole width.

Choosing a distance unit or a theme, or turning reminders and Material
You on, used to work only if you hit the small circle or the switch
itself. Tapping the label did nothing at all.

Screen readers now read each row as one labelled choice.

Also fixed: the occasional full-screen ad kept a count that was
forgotten whenever the app closed, so in practice it never appeared.
