About this app

The Health Companion was developed alongside Lung Cancer Nurses UK (LCNUK) and Mesothelioma UK (MESOUK). The data is used to help understand whether a new medical treatment actually works, whether it offers good value for money or what the impact is on the condition.

For patients, the Health Companion allows them to take more control in the management of their cancer. It is now available and configured for either lung cancer or mesothelioma patients. The app, keeps a record of all the data they enter, so they can review it later in a range of easy to understand reports. Enabling them to record, monitor and communicate how they feel with family and care providers to improve outcomes.

It works by asking individuals to answer a set of questionnaires (Patient Reported Outcome Measures) relating to living with their cancer to provide information about their own experiences of receiving treatment and care.

Patients are able to feedback detail about the symptoms they are experiencing, the effects of treatment and about the wider impact the illness is having on their quality of life and their views on the care they receive.
