Moscow Metro Wars (MM Wars) is a hardcore turn-based economic and military online strategy game with over a million downloads.

The disastrous nuclear and biological war is over, the lucky few - Muscovites and guests of the capital - have found salvation in the subway, which has spread a web of its tunnels, stations and technical premises under the now dead city. Each surviving station turned first into a temporary shelter, and then into a new home for those who found themselves on it... or was born.

Have people learned a lesson from what happened?

Of course not.

Soon, the unified metro management system broke up into separate quasi-states, which immediately began to fight among themselves for every scrap of living space or piece of food - war never changes, and the world of the apocalypse is no exception.
Meanwhile, on the radioactive wasteland that most of the planet's surface had turned into, something hitherto unknown was emerging...

Take on the role of Arseny Skadov, the young head of the security service of the government bunker, in which the pre-war order has been preserved.
In the place where you were born and grew up, an emergency occurred: a dangerous virus that was mistakenly obtained in ambitious research got into the bunker's life support system, and a group of scientists sent to the civilian subway for the missing components for the vaccine did not return!

- Take power into your own hands! Lead a faction of scientists and lead your colleagues in search of salvation for yourself and the entire Moscow metro.

- Become a politician and commander! Develop your economy to create the strongest army in the subway and confront your opponents and the terrible mutants that are ready to devour the miserable remnants of humanity. Expand and protect your possessions, invent new tactics and strategies to save your fighters and stations. Negotiate with other factions to get what you need... or take your own by brute force, and all those who stand in the way - wash in their own blood... Call on the service of various powerful mercenaries that will help you to emerge victorious from the most stalemate... Of course, if you manage to dispose of them competently.

Ratings and reviews

The game is really fun(At first). The story is separate from the story of the books and main games, but allows for a fun way for the player to rule his or her own faction in the metro. However it is not without its flaws. The largest is that there comes a point where it becomes almost impossible to advance. There is no constant way to level up troops and there is no way to make new troops hired at a higher level than 1, meaning when you loose more than a few of your best men the game practically forces you to save scum to keep from losing everything. Maybe a machanic that adds a chance to to heal higher leveled troops by making them injured and not able to battle until healed instead of dying every time like with the commander and resurgents but with a chance to actually die and make the chance of injury higher with each progressive troop's level but longer to heal and more expensive to rush healing. And/or maybe new building capable of training troops by raising their xp and level over time while stationed at said station, even slowly, or a consistantly respawning enemy to grind on could fix the issue. Otherwise the game at that point strong arms you into spending money on special resurgent troops or healing fallen men in a way that feels pretty scummy. There is light diplomacy with the other game factions but it is very bare bones and limited. Maybe a way to actually trade, maybe one could sell or buy food, men, and stations for bullets with natural or friendly factions and maybe a way to negotiate with certain independent factions to align under the player's faction. Also a way to personalize the player faction would be nice, perhaps a list of optional sigils to choose from and the ability to name one's faction and player owned stations as well. For example in the cannon universe stations Market, Armory, Cursed, and Exhibition were all renamed from their original pre-war names. Also some of the controls are buggy, especially throwing grenades can get bugged where it can be difficult to confirm a target. Also the lack of ability to load previous saves in battle is annoying, perhaps at the beginning of battle so if one accidentally chooses a wrong save they don't have to repeat a battle yet make it harder to save scum and keep the game balanced. All this aside the game is good.

The game is a suber strategy experience. The depth of the story, and the many side quests avaliable make for an immersive playthrough. It is a bit grindy, (concerning player levels) but there are guides avaliable to help. The only downside is the confusing server and login interface. For example, I logged into an account and purchased coins, but never got them. Hopefully the developers make it easier to recieve what you pay for.

I really do like this game. It's hard, grindy, and brutal, just as the metro should be. The story is fantastic, the gameplay addicting, and the map just begging to be explored. Be wary of spending money on this game though. There are times where you can drop money on coins and they just not appear. No matter what. I've spent over 30usd on this game and still haven't gotten anything I purchased. All in all, great game, but Don't spend money on it. You'll loose it in return for nothing.
