About this game

Square Words is a relaxing crossword word game for Android. Build words on the board, cross them with your opponent's, and use the bonus squares to rack up points — against the computer or with a friend.

The board comes first. Square Words makes the board as large as your screen allows and fits everything else around it, so your tiles are always easy to read and easy to reach — on an ordinary phone, a tablet, or a phone with a square screen or a physical keyboard.

See your score before you play: Square Words shows the words you are making and what they are worth, and tells you straight away if a word isn't in the word list.

Play your way:

• Play against the computer at four levels, from Gentle to Strong.
• Play with a friend on the same phone — your tiles stay hidden until it's your turn.
• Play in English or Norwegian, each with its own tiles (including Æ, Ø and Å).
• Tap a square and then your tiles, drag tiles onto the board, or simply type your word on a keyboard.
• Choose a light, dark or e-ink display, or let Square Words follow your phone.
• Vulgar words are off unless you switch them on, and slurs are never allowed.
• Pick up where you left off — your game is saved after every move.

Made for every screen. On a regular phone the board fills the width with your tiles close at hand. On a square screen it fills the whole display and follows its rounded corners. With a physical keyboard you can type whole words, and an e-ink mode keeps everything crisp in black and white.

Everything runs on your device.

No ads. No account. No tracking. Square Words doesn't even ask for Internet access.

Your games and settings stay on your phone.

What’s new

Square Words now speaks Norwegian: the app is translated into Norwegian, and you can play with Norwegian words and tiles, including Æ, Ø and Å. Choose the word language when you start a game. Slurs are never accepted, and vulgar words are off unless you switch them on in Settings.
