Bulgot is a Polish-style fermentation journal. Pickles, sourdough starter, kombucha, kefir, miso, and beer – all in one place, no account or subscription required. All data stays on your phone.
The app recognizes presets that mean something specific in Poland: low-salt pickles are three days, sauerkraut three weeks, and the brine for pickles has a different concentration than for cabbage.
BATCHES
• Six fermentation types and fifteen presets with real-time times
• Measurements of temperature, pH, density, and starter growth
• One-touch observations: "bubbling," "clouding," "brine has settled"
• Photos for each entry and a timeline of batch photos
• Measurement graphs and side-by-side comparisons of several batches
CULTURES
Kourtstock, SCOBY, and kefir grains live for years. Bulgot counts the day of cultivation, maintains a feeding history, culture pedigree, and batch counter.
TODAY'S TIPS
The batch screen tells you what to expect on the day you're currently on – separate for cucumbers and cabbage. The "Is something wrong?" screen helps you resolve the most common fermentation questions: yeast crust or mold.
REMINDERS
Calculated from your data, not constants. Feeding the starter is based on the ratio (1:1:1 takes about 6 hours, 1:10:10 takes 16), and checking and tasting are based on the preset's specific time.
FINISH WITH A RATING
Rate the batch on a scale of 1-5, note what went wrong, and leave a note for future reference. It will come back the next time you start the same batch.
BALANCE SHEET
How many batches, how many days of fermentation, and what works best for you. Finally, a conclusion is calculated based on the ratings, for example, "pickles with 3.5% salt have an average of 4.5, those with 4% – 3.5."
CALCULATORS
• Salt by weight for vegetables and brine
• Starter feeding ratios – the result is immediately saved as the culture feeding
• Kombucha ingredients
BATCH CARD

YOUR DATA IS YOURS
• No account, no login, no cloud
• The app has no server to send anything to
• The backup is a single JSON file – with or without photos. Importing adds missing data and doesn't overwrite anything.
ACCESSIBILITY
Dark mode, color-blindness-tested (protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia), and large touchscreens.
